Connectors and Contacts

Bespoke connectors and contacts in a wide variety of shapes and sizes are manufactured efficiently and economically by PRECISION MICRO.

Connectors & Contacts

Wherever a physical, breakable connection is required in an electronic or electrical circuit there is a need for a connector. These come in a vast array of shapes and sizes and many can be manufactured, or incorporate contacts that can be manufactured using PRECISION MICRO manufacturing technology. From minute pin connectors and arrays to integral spring contacts PRECISION MICRO has the skills and the capabilities to meet the majority of micro contact and connector requirements.

For smaller volumes, 3Dpc technology may well be the preferred manufacturing option, where components are profiled by Photo Etching and formed using modular press tooling. Larger quantities are manufactured more efficiently by Precision Pressing, using progressive tooling designed and manufactured in-house.

Because connectors are required to operate across a range of environmental conditions and in many instances need to have enhanced wear resistance a variety of surface finishes and coatings are requested. The company frequently provides gold, tin, silver, tin/lead, and sulphur/nickel, coatings complete ort selectively plated onto contacts, enabling customers to obtain the fully finished component from a single source

Flexibility in manufacturing

  • A wide range of design types can be realised using PRECISION MICRO’s manufacturing technology.
  • 3Dpc technology can reduce lead times for prototypes and initial quantities.
  • Precision pressing can be utilised for larger volumes with the tooling being manufactured in-house from the same CAD data for consistent quality and accuracy.

Low risk strategy

  • The initial use of 3Dpc technology with low cost photo and modular tooling, requires little initial investment and reduced lead times remove an element of marketing risk.
  • Designs can be optimised without incurring a significant cost penalty.
