3Dpc Technology

The short lifespan of many of today's products, combined with the ever increasing urgency to get products to market quickly, has led to a fundamental change in the technologies used for prototyping and manufacturing small precision mechanical components. Lead times of several months for conventional punch and form tooling and the high associated cost are no longer acceptable for all but the highest volume work and even in these instances, prototypes and pre-tooling production are increasingly handled by newer technologies? technologies that require no expensive tooling, technologies that combine to produce prototype quantities in a matter of days, 3Dpc Technology (Three Dimensional Precision Component Technology) from PRECISION MICRO.

3Dpc Technology utilises a combination of low cost photo tooling and modular press tooling to speed the production process and enable customer to receive working samples in only 7 - 10 days from order, less time than it can take to design a conventional press tool. The technology is applicable to a wide range of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials up to 1.00 mm thick.

Possibly the greatest benefit that can be derived from 3Dpc Technology is the flexibility to modify; to amend designs and optimise parts prior to full scale manufacture. The prohibitive cost of tooling has in the past has caused some products to come to market with less than perfect component design. Designers can now optimise their designs without encountering huge prohibitive cost penalties and suffering substantial delays.

Even for high volume designs where the use of conventional press tooling is considered the long term, economic option, 3Dpc Technology is being used for prototype and pre-tooling quantities to enable the finished product to be brought to market quicker.
