Laser Evolved ElectroForming: Multilayer Structures

Multilayer Structures

LEEF uses Laser Direct Imaging to expose the required pattern onto the resist layer on the electroforming mandrel.

The positional accuracy of the image that the laser creates, is so repeatable that multiple layers of resist can be built up and exposed to form features such as posts and apertures with aspect ratios in excess of 10 : 1... features that are difficult if not impossible to achieve with conventional photo-electroforming.

In its simplest form, multilayering can provide structural integrity, strength and reinforcementto exceptionally thin e-formed parts such as meshes, making them easier to handle andless susceptible to damage

However, highly complex, three dimensional structures can be created in this way, using 'overgrowth' and multiple exposure techniques.
